A little something from Fran about Much Ado About Nothing, which is something I think we’ve all been waiting for!
“[Whedon] shot that while he was on vacation,” says Kranz. “I remember he said he was going to go to Italy with his wife and kids, then all of a sudden he started to shoot a movie, which is crazy… He does a lot of readings at his house, he’s a great host. He always has people over, but he likes to have something to do, something specific. Sometimes he’ll read plays. One night we all read ‘A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream’. He called me one day and said he was thinking about doing ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, but filming it this time. That struck me as doing something handheld, with a Flipcam or something. Not something big with grip trucks, all of this equipment and stuff. But that’s what it turned into.”

Another neat project update, this time for Joss Whedon’s modern adaption of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” in which Fran will be joined by Nathan Fillion, Tom Lenk, Amy Acker and more! Check it out!
Make sure to read read up on the project at Entertainment Weekly!
Note: Congrats to everyone involved (both those who contributed, and the cast/writers/producers/directors/crew) for making the 102% mark on the kickstarter campaign for Lust for Love!
A quickie post to let everyone know that Fran‘s new film Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules premieres tomorrow according to Internet Movie Database.
Unfortunately, thanks to the fact that there’s only one theater in this small town and it only plays one film a week, I won’t be able to see it opening weekend but if anyone else gets to check it out and would like to let FKF know how it was, please tweet @FranKranzFan or check us out on Facebook!
Best of luck to DoaWK 2, here’s hoping it’s #1 this weekend!
Sorry, I suck, I’ve been gone forever but I’ve been involved in politics and campaigns, plus two moves in 8 months (one of them major) and a career change so I’m crazy insane and busy, busy, busy.
An update: Friends with Benefits was, indeed, picked up but Fran won’t be in it. Instead he’s been off Broadway in The Bachelorette, here’s a little theater review of his performance:
And Fran Kranz makes an impressive Off Broadway debut as the eternal wingman Joe, whose softheartedness is revealed in a moving monologue about his history of drug taking. Joe, too, does not perceive how his casual dedication to getting high is a symptom of a more profound alienation.
According to Zap2it.com (take this lightly, may or may not be true) Fran has landed a role in the Friends with Benefits series pilot. Here’s what they had to day:
Kranz (“Dollhouse”) will play one of a group of people looking for love in “Friends with Benefits,” the HR says. The show comes from “(500) Days of Summer” writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber and “Wedding Crashers” director David Dobkin.
